There are many Hyatt properties for you to choose from in the Denver area. The Hyatt Regency Convention Center in Denver is a solid choice for both leisure and business. This huge property offers a little of everything for your personal and business needs.

If you’re flying in from the Denver International Airport (DEN), it’s about a 30-40 minute drive from the airport to the Hyatt Regency in Denver. For business needs, you’ll be within walking distance to other hotels and most importantly the Convention Center. For sightseeing or leisurely trips, you’re only a short drive from some major attractions such as the Denver Zoo, the Denver Botanical Garden, the Downtown Aquarium, and even the Air and Space Museum.

There two standard options for parking, self-park and valet. Valet will cost you between $25 and $74 which depends on how long you’re parking for and what type of vehicle you have. Oversized vehicles will cost more. For self-parking, it’ll cost $47 per night.

There is a 16th Street Mall Ride shuttle service that is offered near the Hyatt Regency that takes you to the 16th Street Mall and to various other locations downtown. In terms of public transportation, you have access to rideshares, taxis, and the light rail as well.

First Impressions

The Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center’s design is very welcoming. As soon as you enter the building, you’re greeted with a grand open-concept lobby and a large check-in counter. In the lobby, you’ll find various spots to sit and work. Next to the check-in desk, you’ll find a few bellmen who can take your bags for storage while you room is being prepped or help you bring them to your room. To the right of the lobby/check-in area, you’ll pass by more seating areas as you make you way towards the food and drink area of the property.

In general, my first impressions of this property were great. The hotel employees that helped me check-in, store my bags, and park my car were very welcoming and professional. Anna at the front desk verified the room type, reservation, and went over the perks and benefits with me for my stay. The property itself was well kept both inside and outside. The property felt pretty safe due to all the indoor and outdoor lighting even being in a downtown area.

Our Room - Pinyon Pine Suite

Pinyon Pine Suite Photos by Hyatt

The Pinyon Pine Suite is one of the four named suites at this Hyatt Regency. Out of the four named suites, three are considered standard suites which means if you’re a World of Hyatt Globalist, you’re eligible for these standard suites as an upgrade (if available).

This suite boasts 780sq ft that can accommodate up to 10 guests (not for sleeping but lounging around). The bedroom consists of a Hyatt Grand Bed, two night stands, a wardrobe, dresser, room safe, and a large TV. Access to the bathroom is connected to the bedroom itself.

Connected to the bedroom is a very spacious living area with a small wet bar area. The living area holds a couch and two additional chairs, a coffee table, TV, and TV stand. The wet bar area has a long countertop with high chairs, a sink, coffee/tea maker, full sized refrigerator, and a separate entrance/exit than the one from the bedroom.

This suite was great to have since we were traveling with kids. The extra space made it very easy for us to spread out and enjoy every aspect of the room. The full fridge is nice to have for those guests who have extended stays and want to go grocery shopping and have space to store their groceries.

The high floor where this suite is located gave us a great view of the city and nearby mountains. Even though we were located near the elevators, the room was very quiet and we weren’t bothered by anything going on in the hotel.

The Peaks Lounge is on the 27th floor of the Hyatt Regency. It’s where you’ll find higher end dining and a more business casual setting for lounging, eats, and drinks. Being on the 27th floor gives you unmatched views of the Rocky Mountains as well as the surrounding area. The hours are daily from 4:00pm to 11:15pm. View the Peaks Lounge Menu here.

Amenities

On the Hyatt Regency property, you’ll find a 24 hour fitness center, pool, and a FexEx business center.

The indoor lap pool is connected to the 24 hour fitness center. You can enter the pool area through the locker rooms. The pool can be viewed by anyone working out in the fitness center. I found it pretty empty in the mornings when I was working out at the fitness center. It’s well kept and clean. Not much for kids or families though.

The fitness center was adequately stocked with all sorts of equipment to meet everyone’s needs. They have a ton of treadmills, two Pelotons, other stationary bikes, a Stairmaster, free weights, a smith machine, exercise balls, yoga matts, cable machines, and various other stations. Also found in the fitness center are locker rooms, water fountains, and clean towels. Overall, the fitness center was well kept and well stocked.

If you catch an early morning workout, you can get gorgeous views of downtown Denver right outside the fitness center windows.

Regency Club

The Regency Club is currently closed. It was closed during the peak Covid-19 era and we do not know if/when they’ll open it back up. Current Globalists have access to their free breakfast at the Former Saint Craft Kitchen and Taps or the Breakfast Buffet.

Final Thoughts

The Hyatt Regency Denver Convention Center is a solid choice for both business and leisurely trips. Being right next to the Convention Center and in the middle of downtown, you have quick access to many different venues. Being such a huge property, it didn’t feel too crowded even though we were there during a few different conventions. The property was well kept, the food was great, and the staff were great. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a solid stay in downtown Denver.
